Global Impacts of El Niño on Terrestrial Moisture Recycling

The global impacts of El Niño on precipitation have been long-recognized, but more understanding the mechanisms behind this influence is needed. For instance, previous studies largely overlooked potential terrestrial moisture recycling (TMR). We perform a 40-year forward tracking simulation to derive climatology recycled and use composite analysis investigate how affects TMR. identify seven regions where impact TMR most significant find that, in these regions, changes are directly related: they increase or decrease together. In addition, we marked latitudinal contrast between Southern Hemisphere, increases during Niño, Northern Hemisphere tropics, it decreases. Our results indicate that weakening strengthening can be caused by globally.
